Summer School

We look forward to welcoming successful applicants to the AASP Summer School 2025 in Malaysia!

 

The Asian Association of Social Psychology is pleased to announce the Summer School for the 2025 AASP biennial meeting. Established in 2007, the AASP Summer School is designed to:

 

  1. Provide a research-intensive interactive experience for social psychology students across Asia to learn from one another and to receive specialised training from experts

  2. Promote cross-cultural contact among future leaders of Asian social psychology to broaden their academic vision.

 

The 2025 Summer School will take place July 7 - 9. You are required to attend the School in person at Nottingham University Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We are committed to providing you with the most rewarding Summer School experience.​​

 

Students will experience three days of Social Psychology inundated with lectures, group discussions, and consultations with teachers. Students will be divided into small groups with each group mentored by a renowned teacher. Each group will develop a research proposal and present it on the final day.

(Tentative) Schedule

 

Planning meeting (~ by end of June). Students will be allocated to groups and teachers based on their
topic preference. Each group should meet with their teacher and plan for Summer School including any
preparation work (e.g., background readings).

AASP Travel Awards

AASP will provide five awards of up to $400 USD to applicants from low-, lower-middle, or upper-middle-income economy (Based on 2023 World Bank classification) to support their travel. 

 

Selection Criteria:

  1. Financial need, as outlined in your statement (see Application Form).

  2. Travel distance, with preference given to applicants traveling greater distances.

  3. Merit, evaluated based on the strength of your research experience as detailed in your research statement and CV (see Application Form).

 

AASP’s Education and Training Committee will review applications and select the award recipients.

 

Application Process
To apply, you must be an AASP Student Member who has experience conducting research in social
psychology. You must be available to attend all school activities (i.e., partial attendance is not allowed).
Due to the high demand for the AASP Summer School, there will be a competitive selection process.
AASP’s Education and Training Committee will assess the applications.

 

The application due date is 27 March, and the application outcome will be communicated in April.

If you wish to apply for travel support, please write a statement in 200 words or less describing why you need this travel support and the availability of any other sources of financial support (e.g., travel funds from your university).

The online application form will be released soon and will ask for the following information.
1. Your name
2. Your university
3. Degree program you are currently enrolled (e.g., Ph D)
4. Your supervisor
a Your will need to ask your supervisor to fill out a short online form (this will become
available) to support your application.

5. A statement that describes, in 250 words or less, your research. Describe the research work you have
completed to date and your future research plans.
6. A statement that describes, in 250 words or less, how you will benefit from the AASP Summer School.
Explain your motivation to participate, and your expectations on how your participation will
contribute to your research goals and career development.

7. If you wish to apply for travel support, please submit a statement that describes, in 200 words or less, why you need this travel support and the availability of any other sources of financial support (e.g., travel funds from your university)
